In the exceptionally poignant, and in no way nuanced, treatise on temptation, Lead Us Not Into Temptation, I had another realization as I was reading the first few verses of James 4, a passage which I had quoted in that DATA entry.
I realized this passage was perfectly describing Liberals:
1 What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Isn’t it the whole army of evil desires at war within you?
2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have, and you can’t possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them. And yet the reason you don’t have what you want is that you don’t ask God for it.
3 And even when you do ask, you don’t get it because your whole motive is wrong — you want only what will give you pleasure.James 4:1-3 NLT
I mean, didn’t this just sum up quite succinctly the Democrat Party and Obama? And the Marxist hate-the-rich crowd?
The little rugrats trying to “Occupy Wall Street.”
Maybe occupying a shower and a thinking cap would be helpful.
Guilt and envy sum up the Left. I would add to that hedonism as well, since instead of resisting temptation they celebrate temptation.
